Call for Abstracts for 2025 CEOS SAR SAR Cal & Val Workshop

Dear CEOS SAR Cal & Val WG Members,

Further to previous announcement of the next CEOS SAR Cal & Val 2025 workshop, which will be held at the Harbour Centre, Vancouver, Canada, from 27 to 30 October 2025, we would like to inform you that we are now ready to receive your abstract submissions.

We encourage all to support our community with contributions in any of the following topics:

  • Calibration of Running Missions
  • Calibration of Future Missions
  • Calibration of Airborne/UAV SAR Systems
  • Calibration Methodology and Techniques
  • Calibration/Validation Targets and Sites
  • Calibration Requirements and Definitions
  • Innovative SAR Instrument Concepts
  • Processing Algorithms (SAR, InSAR, Polarimetry, Tomography)
  • InSAR Calibration and Verification
  • InSAR Altimetry Calibration and Validation
  • Polarimetry/Compact Polarimetry Calibration
  • Calibration of Multi-channel and DBF Systems
  • Cross-Calibration and Verification
  • Analysis Ready Data Products
  • Space-based and Ground-based RFIs
  • Use of AI for Cal/Val and SAR System Monitoring
  • SARCalNet
  • AIS-based Validation of SAR-based Vessel Detection and Velocity Estimation
  • Calibration of SAR System Parameters for Geophysical Applications (e.g. sea surface height, radial ocean current velocity, terrain surface deformation, biomass/forest structure, soil moisture etc)

Please save the following Important Dates:

  • Abstract submission open: 16 June 2025
  • Deadline to Abstract submissions: 29 August 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance (Presentation or Poster): 26 September 2025
  • Registration open: 16 June 2025
  • Registration close: 10 October 2025
  • CEOS SAR WGCV Workshop: 27-30 October 2025
  • Location: SFU’s Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 5K3

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

Those willing to contribute to the Workshop may do so by submitting an abstract pertaining to one or many of the above-mentioned topics. Contributors may select their preferred presentation format as either an oral presentation, or a poster.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Workshop's Scientific/Technical Committee. Contributors will then be notified of the acceptance of their submission. Abstracts will be used to finalize the Workshop's program. The abstract should be submitted as PDF considering the following:

  • Be written in English;
  • Not exceed one page (except for References), in letter (8.5 X 11 inch) or A4 format;
  • Include a header with the following:
    • Title;
    • Name(s) of author(s) [Please indicate last name in capital letters];
    • Email address of corresponding author.
    • Institutional affiliation;
    • Complete mailing address;
    • Underline the name of the corresponding author;
    • In bold, indicate the name of the presenting author;
  • Include the preferred contribution format, as either: a) an oral presentation, or b) a poster.
  • Include suggested topic(s) of your contribution, from the above-mentioned list.

Please submit your abstract as an attachment to an email to the Workshop secretariat at: ceos_sar_2025@sfu.ca
