Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD)

─ Comparison between esimated AOD & Level 1.5 (cloud screened) AERONET data:

  ① Interpolate AERONET measurements at λ=550 nm using the Angstrom Exponent

  ② Average AERONET values over time period of +/- 15min  from AOD retrieved values (EnMAP/PRISMA overpass)

  ③ Average AOD estimates over an image subset of 9 km x 9 km centred on the AERONET Sun-photometer station

 

The Accuracy (A), Precision (P), and Uncertainty (U) metrics assess the processors’ performance in retrieving AOD. They are computed starting with the difference between the retrieved value 𝑦𝑖 and the reference 𝑦𝑅𝐸𝐹,𝑖 for observation 𝑖, i.e.,

Then, the APU metrics are calculated based on Equations (A) to (U). The APU metrics are given in the respective units i.e., unitless for AOD.
