Welcome to the Terrain Mapping SubGroup of the CEOS Working Group on Calibration and Validation. This webpage is the central location for the CEOS WGCV – TM Subgroup and all activities completed or ongoing in this Group.

Mission

The TMSG Mission is to ensure that characteristics of digital terrain and digital elevation models produced from Earth observation sensors at global and regional scales are well understood and that products are validated and used for appropriate applications (please see: TMSG Overview including Terms of Reference).

Activities

To implement the main mission of the CEOS TMSG the following activities have been implemented:

• DEMIX: Digital Elevation Model Intercomparison eXercise, established in 2020 and now concluded;
• GCPIX: Ground Control Point (GCP) Intercomparison eXercise, started in 2025, aiming to unify CEOS Agency GCP sharing
• GRGIX: Global Reference Grid Intercomparison eXercise

DEMIX Workshops

DEMIX workshops are intended to discuss DEMIX activities, present the results of the project, discuss main outcomes and to describe the platforms and services that have been developed and are available to the users. These workshops are supported by ESA through the EDAP+ contract.
