Inter-Comparison Metrics

As with previous ACIX implementations, the intercomparison for ACIX-III Land is performed separately for all the atmospheric correction products, i.e. Aerosol Optical Depth, Water Vapour and Surface Reflectance.

The intercomparison analysis for AOD and WV was performed on image subsets of 9 km x 9 km centred on the AERONET Sunphotometer station of every test site. For the Surface Reflectance intercomparison, the four closest pixels to the station location were selected and their reflectance values retrieved.

Similarly to ACIX-I and II, the participants were encouraged to submit additional quality flags at pixel level for each product, indicating the quality assured pixel to be involved in the analysis. The inter-comparison is made only for the pixels that are considered of good quality by all or combinations of processors.
